It’s officially summer in the ‘Kong! We at Trip Guru decided to do a fun little survey in the spirit of the sunny season, which means vacations (especially for students) – which means travel!

What are Hong Kong students’ favorite summer memories?

We asked this question out of pure curiosity. Incoming and current uni students, listen up! You could learn a thing or two from those who have gone before you, and tweak your summer itineraries according to the defining moments of these HK uni alumni.

Without further ado, here were the answers:

Loris, Marketing Manager, Facebook

Hong Kong Baptist University 2012

Favorite summer memory: A volunteer trip in a remote village in China teaching local primary school students

If I could go back and do it all again: I would apply for a summer job, earn some money and then use it to travel with someone I love 🙂

Daniel, 26, Marketing Analyst

Lingnan University 2016

Favorite summer memory: Traveling with friends. The time we rented a villa abroad in Europe, or that time I took the train with a friend through China and just walked around and ate a lot of street BBQ!

If I could go back and do it all again: Travel more and care less about money!

Vicki, 30, Editor/Journalist, News Agent

HK Polytechnic University, 2010

Favorite summer memory: Best summer memory, my summer internship as English teacher in Antalya, a coastal city of Turkey

If I could go back and do it all again: Travel, internships abroad, volunteer work!

Bernie, 24, Teacher

HKU, 2017

Favorite summer memory: Going to Tibet without any research or preparation – it was a really spur-of-the-moment trip. The most wonderful thing was to have my 22nd birthday in Everest Base Camp with strangers; what’s more, on that day, I saw a rare galaxy, it was so beautiful. Travelling with strangers felt so good, you can make friends and chat with different people and also learn something from them. That was quite a wonderful trip in my life.

If I could go back to university now, I want to spend more travelling, making more friends and doing more meaningful things.

Chloe Tang, 27, Real Estate Investment Associate

HK PolyU, 2013

Favorite summer memory: Doing an internship in Turkey with AIESEC, an exchange programme.

If I could go back and do it all again: Go on one more AIESEC exchange!

Hong Kong Baptist University, 2016

Favorite summer memory: This trip to Taiwan, when I met three friends from different countries. We still kept in touch, and even met again in Hong Kong when one of them travelled here, really amazing.

If I could go back and do it all again: Maybe find a internship if got the chance!
